DIGICEL opened a new service at SVS Koki yesterday to enable customers to top up at the store’s counter after shopping.

Digicel initially launched the electronic PINS (EPINS) at SVS Harbour City in Port Moresby earlier last month.

With EPINS, Digicel customers could top up at a supermarket checkout counter after paying for their grocery items.

Digicel said customer feedback has been positive and top-up activity has increased significantly.

Digicel said the mobile company would soon install the service at SVS 2 Mile to complete the rollout for the SVS Group in Port Moresby.

Digicel expected to complete the EPIN roll out for SVS by next month.

“Purchasing top-up at a supermarket checkout counter is standard practice in a number of countries and we are pleased to introduce it in Papua New Guinea. “Digicel is committed to the development of PNG and we are always working on new solutions for this market to improve the experience for our customers,” Digicel chief operating officer Darren McLean.

“The results are great and customers are telling us that it makes the process easier and more convenient.”

The EPIN solution runs over “Pronto”, which is a point of sale (POS) system used in many retailers in PNG.

Once an EPIN is purchased, a receipt is printed out for the customer with the value of the top-up and the voucher number on the receipt.

The new method works exactly the same as with “flex cards”.
