Discipline will get us through, Marum says

SP PNG Hunters coach Michael Marum says discipline will be key to getting his side through the remaining eight games of the Q-Cup regular season.
Marum said he would continue to insist on the highest standards of discipline from his players at training, during the game and off the field.
He said getting the basics right would lay the foundation for the Hunters heading into their next game against the Redcliffe Dolphins on Sunday.
“We’ve got eight games remaining and discipline will be the important for us,” Marum said.
“The Dolphins have a lot of class across the park. They put 50 points on Wynnum Manly over the weekend so we’ll have to be a lot better than we were against the Falcons.
“We’ll take confidence from that win but we do need to get better, follow the game plan and execute.”
When asked about the possibility of having Garry Lo back in his squad Marum said he would rely on his roster to complete the season.
“It’s very unlikely. We’ve got players coming back from injury and suspension so we’ll have a strong squad to chose from,” Marum said.
“We have to stress discipline in the team.
“Garry was given his chance not just at the Hunters but in the UK.
“He had the opportunity to do well for himself. He messed up and may have spoiled it for the other players.
“We’re finding it hard to get players into the NRL and into the English Super League as it is.
“What these players don’t understand is if you keep spoiling your chances where else are you going to play?
“There are not that many places to play rugby league,” Marum said.
In other team news, back-rower Ila Alu was ruled out of this weekend’s clash with the Dolphins after injuring his right ankle against the Falcons.
Marum said Wawa Paul was likely to retain the fullback role as Adex Wera, who was suspended for two weeks for a dangerous tackle in the round 15 clash with the Ipswich Jets, had not reported back to training after being given time off last week. “Adex is still in Goroka. We gave him time off after he was suspended and he went home but I’m concerned that players tend to get into bad habits and when they get back to training they have to start from scratch.”
