Displaced settlers to be resettled: PM

LANDS Department is working on releasing some State land to resettle displaced settlers of Garden Hills in Port Moresby who are bona fide taxpayers.
This includes those who have lived on their settlement properties for more than two generations and are self-sustaining through some form of economic means.
Prime Minister James Marape gave this assurance yesterday when he was providing an update on what the Government was doing to address the evicted people at Garden Hills last week by a court order.
He said his directive was now with the Minister for Lands to identify a piece of land to relocate the displaced settlers.
This will be done in collaboration with the National Capital District Commission which has been working on a settlement-to-suburb programme over the last 10 years.
