Distribute vital services fairly

I REFER to the article written by Koranto titled, “People deserve services”, (Feb 3).

The writer was arguing that Mehrra Minne Kipefa must be fair in upgrading road network in Tairora constituency in Obura-Wonenara electorate.

The writer must realise that the road network towards the MP’s stronghold is better that what people of Tairora are experiencing, therefore, voiced his concern out so the MP can at least assist with this vital link.

People of upper Tairora deserve better road.

However, in PNG’s political landscape, our elected members operate more as politicians than state men. Politicians follow their political boundary in delivering services especially to areas where they got most of the votes from during last election and to maintain that figure come next election.

They know exactly where their stronghold is when delivering vital services like road infrastructure.

State men on the other hand, are MPs without political boundaries and limitations.

Such MPs deliver services to all corners of the district regardless of whether you have voted for him or not.

They are the eyes and ears of the government and are there for the people in good or bad times.
