A RECENT police operation to address criminal activities in Wau and Bulolo in Morobe has restored normalcy in the area, according to police commander Supt Alex N’Drasel.
“The operations will continue with a different scope from the previous one,” N’Drasel said.
“This operation is not completed as yet. It is the start and will continue,” he said.
Police are still looking for those involved in the burning of homes and in possession of guns and ammunitions who are still in hiding.
“That is why we need to come back a second time with a new scope of operation. We will continue until we clean up Wau and Bulolo towns.”
N’Drasel travelled to Wau to talk to policemen on the ground. He gave the officer in charge a list of people in possession of guns and ammunitions.
Two suspects have been arrested and are now in police custody.
In regard to the eviction notice, he said it came from the provincial administrator who had the authority to serve the notice as the custodian to the state land in Wau.
“Administratively, he has the power to serve this notice on people illegally settling on state land.”
N’Drasel said police would get a court order to evict settlers as they had been already warned.
“The eviction notice is to tell you to be ready to move or start moving. The court order means demolishing houses and move.”
