THE Mul-Baiyer development authority (DDA) presented an ambulance as an Eater gift to the Rebiamul Catholic health facility last Thursday.
DDA project manager Wesly Koki said the ambulance was funded by the National Gaming Control Board and the DDA and it was MP Goi Trappe’s wish for it to be presented to the Kuruk health facility on Easter.
He said the facility in the Tambul-Nebilyer (Hagen Central)-Mul-Baiyer border provided health services to more than 10,000 people.
“It is the MP’s vision to work in partnership with churches as church-run health services provides best services to people,” he said.
“The DDA will continue to partner with churches.”
Catholic health services secretary Fr Peter Ripa said the Kuruk health facility had been without an ambulance for many years after its ambulance broke down.
“This gift is a huge relief,” he said.
“The Catholic church is happy and thankful to the DDA for the donation.
“We will take good care of the ambulance.”
Councillor Michael Ponega said the Muntika Nengamb, Muntika Kalapukamb, Kombane Wapkamb, Tapengil Marapengil and Nenga Engamb wards, including three others in the Nenga community, would benefit from ambulance services and “it is our duty to look after the ambulance and follow the rules and regulations set for the use of the ambulance”.
