HUON GULF district in Morobe was the first to launch its five year (2013-17) development “smart” plan on Saturday.

Smart stands for simple, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely.

“The plan is smart when implementers are also smart to execute their roles, responsibilities and functions as required from them,” MP Ross Seymour said.

The launching also included district works heavy machineries, vehicle fleets, 14 Lucas sawmill, two tractors, generator and three of the nine proposed houses for district staff.

Seymour said that the plan put God first in the lives of humans in three council areas of Morobe, Salamaua and Wampar.

He said it aligned with the national Vision 2050 and Papua New Guinea’s development strategic plan (PNGDSP).

“It caters for various activities in socio-economic delivery including infrastructure development that have no political barriers,” he said.

“The plan is based upon Christian principles and the democratic rights of 96,000 people in Huon-Gulf to take ownership and make it a reality to improve livelihoods,” Seymour said.

Seymour said the plan reflected the sentiments of his heart.

Morobe Governor Kelly Naru committed K2 million counter-funding for  a new district headquarters building, four staff houses and two vehicles.
