MEDICAL officers from Morobe’s 10 districts, Angau Memorial Hospital and partner agencies attended a three-day workshop organised by the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MPHA) to review its annual plan.
MPHA chief executive officer Dr said the review meeting looked at last year and this year’s first quarter performances.
In the biggest run for the provincial health authority, it is an opportunity for the management to tell its team that unlike last year, they have their financial resource now than they have since 2017.
Binga said they were fortunate this year to have financial help from the Health Department coming to them with a total of about K3.9 million.
Binga said the planning part is to capture two forms, its coming as a result of their corporate plan which they align their last year’s corporate plan with the National Health Plan and endorsed around last year.
This corporate plan 2024-2026 is the first for the Morobe Provincial Health Authority as an organisation.
The plan will be formally launched probably during Angau’s 60th anniversary but soft copies were given out to participants at the programme.
There are two approaches to making a plan – facility based budgeting and programme based budgeting.
Binga said they used facility-based budgeting during training which has levels one to five.
Level one is called the community aid post (now called the health post), level two is sub health center (now called the health post), level three is health center, level four is district hospital and level five is the provincial hospital.
Participants were grouped to discuss and present the activities and their budgets that will be carried out in the five levels so every year they will not have to create new plans or activities;
they will just have to change the figures.
