A BUILDING structure situated in the middle of Walium station of Usino-Bundi in Madang was demolished on the orders of local MP and Education Minister Jimmy Uguro.
Uguro said the incomplete structure had sat idle for a number of years because of alleged abuse of public funds totaling around K6million.
He said the site had been used as toilet and was a health hazard.
The brick structure was torn down by an excavator before the official opening of a new Usino-Bundi government complex worth K2 million by Uguro.
The new administration at Walium would be called UBG Haus which is the initial for the three local level governments in the district – Usino, Bundi and Gama.
A long-time resident of Walium said the structure was a dangerous area at night as it was a place where crimes were committed.
