District presents gifts to Lutheran synod host

THROUGH cultural performances, women of the Lutheran church’s Emmanuel district in Southern Highlands, have presented traditional gifts in marking their role as the next host of the synod and as a sign of gratitude to the Papua synod committee. District president Pastor Tande Tumbo said the gifts signified the first synod hosted in Papua.
Although districts were advised to bring only 50 delegates, the Emmanuel district had 50 delegates and 800 observers who flew to the nation’s capital for the event.
Bilums, hats, Ialibu baskets and K3,700 were presented by the women’s group committee chairman Sumasy Singin, committee secretary Adam Wangu and head bishop Rev Dr Jack Urame.
Tumbo, Emmanuel district had elected a woman to organise the cleaning and maintenance of the grounds during the activities.
