PRIMARY school students in the Markham, Morobe, can now access education through television following a K250,000 funding from the District Development Authority on Friday.
The Enhancing Quality in Teaching TV (EQUITV) programme is a televised education programme initiated by the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) for schools in the country.
Under the EQUITV programme, a class is chosen and the subjects taught in the classroom is broadcast to other schools for students to learn from.
Markham administrator John Orebut said the programme was important because it would ensure that students could access some of the best televised classroom programmes from some of the leading schools around the country.
Orebut said education was a key development aspect for the province and they will continue to support it.
“We have this programme launched in a number of schools in Bulolo and Huon Gulf,” Orebut said.
“In Markham, all 25 schools will have EQUITV. We are giving K10,000 each to the schools.”
