A DISTRICT official in Kabwum, Morobe says people tested positive of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) at its six health centres are sent back home to isolate there.
District health manager Kevin Avini said there were no facilities at the health centres to look after those who tested positive for Covid-19.
“When people are tested positive, we send them back to their families to have them isolated in their communities,” Avini said.
He said the only assistance they could provide was medicine and advice. “The district health centres do not have oxygen cylinders, and personal protective equipment are running low,” he said.
The latest Covid-19 case was detected at the Derim health centre in Deyamos on Sunday, Oct 10, bringing the total confirmed cases to five. Avini said many workers in the health centres were not trained to conduct the coronavirus tests.
He also said water supply to the Derim health centre and the Kabwum district headquarters needed to be fixed.
