THE Huon Gulf in Morobe spent K200,000 to support the Lutheran church synod in Boana and associated sporting activities last Christmas.
MP Ross Seymour gave K100,000 to Lutheran church synod host patron Kelly Naru for the national conference to be attended by the 17 Lutheran districts from Jan 12 to 17.
Another K100,000 was spent on sporting activities in Salamaua, Wampar and Morobe local level governments (LLG) to keep youths away from unlawful activities during festive season.
Seymour said the funding was to ensure that church members in the Zaka, Malaclo and Wampar circuits could attend the synod.
Wampar LLG president Giuka Boaras handed over K5,000 on behalf of the 22 councillors.
West Taraka received K20,000 to host rugby and soccer games, Salamaua got K13,000 for soccer and volleyball competitions, and the Morobe LLG received K20,000 to hold soccer and basketball tournaments.
K15,000 was distributed to the 12 Wampar villages along the highway to hold soccer, volleyball and basketball competitions at Gabsongkeg.
K15,000 was given to the 10 Lower Watut villages while K17,000 was spent on logistics and administration.
Seymour said it was a peaceful Christmas and New Year period.
