THE Dubbuy reconciliation programme organising committee received a funding support of K100,000 from the Goilala development authority (GDDA) through Goilala MP William Samb.
The programme, including a fundraiser, is an initiative of the Fr Jules Dubbuy Peace Reconciliation Inc spearheaded by the locals of Ononge, particularly those of Vetapu valley in collaboration with the GDDA to say sorry to the Catholic church and the relatives of Fr Jules Dubbuy, a pioneer missionary and administrator in the hinterlands of Goilala.
Samb, who is also the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, said apart from spreading the word of God, Fr Jules was also the proxy government, delivering other services to the Vetapu valley and nearby areas.
He said Fr Jules was killed in 1952 in what many claimed in recent times as related to World War II.
However, he said it was recently discovered that he was murdered by locals as payback for losses inflicted on them by the administrators of the territory then.
