PEOPLE of Uvol and Bili in Pomio district, East New Britain, will have air services after the opening of airstrips in their areas.
MP Elias Kapavore was accompanied by Rural Airstrip Agency’s (RAA) John Konga and Ivan Jemen, the project manager for New Guinea Islands and Momase regions, district staff and RAA officials for the opening. Konga told The National that the airstrips were developed and ready for use thanks to a partnership between the Pomio District Development Authority and RAA.
Both airstrips had closed for 30 years and had been overgrown by bushes but through RAA the restoration work on the airstrips took place between September and October.
