Do not use God’s name lightly

PNG is predominantly a Christian country.
Ironically, peace-loving visitors are greeted by bag-snatching, robberies and even assaults.
It is pretty scary and even unbelievable to imagine that this could happen in our so-called Christian country, but that is the reality.
A long-time expatriate resident told me he felt hypocritical to attend church because he did not feel comfortable praying and worshipping with a congregation whose members get involved in stone-throwing and fighting the next morning.
Presumably, some of our MPs who will be declared winners of this year’s elections would have made it through bribery and all kinds of deceitful means.
They will then shamelessly attribute their success  to God.
The second command of the Bible forbids the use of the Lord’s name vainly.
It is dishonouring to use His name thoughtlessly.
Those who abuse the His name are being watched by God.
He will not hold the transgressor guiltless and He will not be mocked.
The fact His name is used so often thoughtlessly and in trivial matters grieve the tender spirit of God.
