POSITIVE cases from the Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) Coronavirus (Covid-19) testing has been less than 10 per cent since last month, a doctor says.
Director of medical services Dr Kone Sobi told The National yesterday that there were seven Covid-19 patients in the ward.
He said so far, the hospital had only four new admissions this year.
“Two patients had severe traumatic brain injury, had surgery and were found to have the Covid-19, but the concern was more on the brain injury from trauma rather than the Covid-19,” he said.
“Others were carry over from December.”
Sobi said there had been one Covid-19 death recorded so far this year, and that occurred on last Sunday.
He said the positivity rate was low but the hospital was strict with its Covid-19 prevention measures and testing.
According to the last dashboards from the Covid-19 National Control Centre, 41 new cases were reported
last Thursday, 31 Friday and 46 on Saturday.
As of last Saturday, the total number of reported cases recorded in PNG was 36,403, of which 35,749 had recovered, 591 had died while 63 cases had been diagnosed over the last 14 days.
