Doctors call to open country up

Letters

THE National Doctors Association, in a presentation last year to the special parliamentary committee on the state of emergency on Covid-19, stated that the continuous and prolonged lockdown will cause economic and social breakdown and unrest.
The best thing was to equip hospitals with proper intensive care unit equipment, accessories and personal protective equipment for health workers to deal with Covid-19, the public to follow the “new normal” and open the country.
The damage to the economy is huge and it is real.
It will take years to recover.
I guess the Government is borrowing money to maintain the public service and government programmes.
It is time to open the country up and maintain the borders and international seaports and airports with controls and restrictions.
