Callan Services Network (CSN) for Persons with Disabilities has launched Papua New Guinea’s first documentary focussed on hearing-impaired people.
It was launched on Friday in Port Moresby.
The documentary was funded by the Australian government through the PNG-Australia Partnership, with Light for the World, and managed by Callan Services.
Callan Services national unit director Br Kevin Ryan said that the documentary would be a tool for promoting the rights of hearing-impaired people throughout the country.
“The documentary titled, Stigma Kills – Love Heals, is targeted at raising awareness on challenges faced by people with hearing impairments and the work that is being done to support them,” he said.
Speaking at the launch, Australian deputy high commissioner Caitlin Wilson encouraged key partners to help the project.
“Promoting inclusion for people with disability is vital, so they can enjoy their basic human rights and actively participate in their community and workplace,” she said.
