TOKS Mix Dogs beat Nest United 10-6 over the weekend to maintain their winning streak after seven rounds in the Hohola Offseason Rugby League.
Dogs, led by former Enga Mioks forward Gerry Ware, are known to play a versatile game at Hohola’s Ipi Park.
The Dogs believe showing respect to their opponents and displaying true sportsmanship is paying dividends.
The Dogs winning run sees them clearly leading the table with 14 points while BP Mix Mates are second with 13.
Defending champions Raiders Namona are in third.
The Dogs scored a try in each half, which was enough to see out the win over United.
All of United’s points came in the first half.
At the completion of round seven, league interim president Roger Laka said they had only four weeks remaining before the finals.
“Regardless of the clash between Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup challenges in Port Moresby in the same weekend, our games ran well as scheduled, thanks to all the teams,” he said.
Laka said he was expecting to complete the competition early next year.
