Donations come with hope of visits to China

CHINA Harbour Engineering Company (Chec) donated stationery and sporting equipment to Hohola Demonstration Primary School in the National Capital District yesterday and promised to sponsor top students to visit China in future.
Chec general manager for the South Pacific Division, Deng Bo, said Chec was here to stay in Papua New Guinea and was committed to supporting PNG in terms of achieving its development agendas and aspirations.
“We are very much involved in the building and construction industry, but in everywhere we go and stay, we have a corporate social responsibility to the communities,” he said. “That’s why we also provide support to societies
which include supporting health, education and cultural programmes.”
He said Chec was pleased to donate stationery supplies and sporting equipment to assist teachers and improve learning.
He said they would discuss with the school principal and management the possibility of sponsoring top students to visit or study in China.
He said this was not the first donation they were making.
They have made a couple of donations to schools and hospitals and local communities over the years.
