Don’t forget East Sepik

Letters

WRITE to humbly ask the Government and future governments not to forget what the people of East Sepik have done to this great nation.
The people of East Sepik have never failed PNG at any one time by voting Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare out of politics.
His achievement as the longest serving politician in commonwealth countries and the world was because of the endless support he received from his people.
During his political career, he never put his people first in terms of development.
I am privileged to spend a month in his village at Karau (Murik Lake) with his adopted son Ben Somare and witnessed that myself.
There are no major developments in his home village at Karau.
He has a bush material house with no mattress, cushion or chair inside.
I can honestly say that Sir Michael Thomas Somare was a leader that never put his people of East Sepik first in terms of development.
We cannot blame him for not developing his home province.
He was raised to serve the entire country.
Some of us might wonder why Sir Michael chose to prepare his tomb at his home province while he was still alive.
It is a sign that he deserves respect and honour from other leaders to give his body back to the people of East Sepik.

  • Amen….the Sepiks have been left with bones and it is now time they should be given the meat.
