HOHOLA Lareva Dragons RFL club want to know whether they will be accepted into the Port Moresby rugby league competition after claiming the premiership in the Port Moresby suburban rugby league competition for two straight seasons.
The Dragons are seeking some answers from the Port Moresby rugby football board chairman Labi Amaiu and his executive on their eligibility to compete in the league competition.
They want Amaiu and the board to revisit the memorandum of understanding and spell out to them if there is a rule or plan that states that a team from the suburban league that wins the premiership will qualify to participate in the city league.
Under the former administration of chairman Solomon Ravu, it is understood there was an understanding or arrangement made between both parties that suburban league champions would play in the Port Moresby competition.
It will mean when they enter the city league they will push out the bottom-placed club that has performed poorly during the season.
Precedence had already been set when former suburban league champions Maiari Eagles of Porebada and Kone Storms of Kondedobu had gain entry into the city league under the arrangement.
Dragons president Ambrose Mikes claimed they could be permitted in the city league because there was a conflict of interest between Amaiu and the Royals RFL club who finished as wooden spooners this season.
Mikes, who is from Enga, said for reasons only known to himself, he could not remove the club to the suburban league competition and allow Dragons to fill in the space.
He was proud that his players had been working hard to make a break through to the Port Moresby rugby league competition by winning back-to-back titles in the Port Moresby suburban league competition.
