A local firm donated a refrigerator and food warmer to Boreboa Primary School in the National Capital District as Independence Day gifts on Friday.
Dream Inn finance manager Delmae Haru presented the school with the items costing a total cost of K5000 to head master Brian Kagayabi and school board Andrew Awusaisa.
Haru said the items were given because the school was in need of a refrigerator and a food warmer for the school canteen.
She said the donation would help the school provide lunch in the canteen.
The school has 2937 students at elementary and primary levels.
Head master Brian Kagayabi said the gift was timely.
He said that the Department of Education has banned the sale of food in the school.
“We have tried our best to provide lunch in the canteen with one refrigerator but still the demands were high. Sometimes some of them even go without cold drinks,” he said.
Kagayabi said the food warmer and the refrigerator would help the canteen provide more drinks and food for a larger number of students.
School board member Andrew Awusaisa said: “I thank the company on behalf of the school board, the community, and the parents.”
