THE driver of the vehicle robbed by a group of armed thugs last week in West Sepik in which three passengers were killed is assisting police in their investigation.
Provincial police commander Chief Insp Moses Ibsagi said no one has been arrested yet.
Two passengers were shot in the head in front of the other passengers at Wamarau, West Sepik, on Oct 5 at about 3pm.
A third passenger succumbed to injuries at the hospital in Maprik in East Sepik on Monday evening.
“The driver is assisting with police investigations.
“He is not a suspect but only giving us information on what happened,” he said.
“The passengers including a priest and three teachers were travelling from Nuku to Maprik for their daily shopping and to sell vanilla.
“As they came near Wamarau village, 16 armed men stopped the vehicle and held up the passengers.
“The 16 had guns and bush knives.
“During a struggle, two passengers were shot in the head and died instantly.”
