A 24-YEAR-OLD man was fined K300, in default four months jail in Buimo prison, by a district court in Lae for drinking in public and causing nuisance.
Magistrate Isaac Tjipet on Wednesday told Udo Collin, from Finschhafen’s Unzain village in Morobe, that many youths and men were drinking in public and causing a nuisance.
“I hope you have learnt your lesson and your case is also a lesson to others. A public place is not a club or for drunkards.
“Some youths are lucky that they are not caught, and people like you are unlucky.
“So, consider this a lesson and do not repeat the offence,” Tjipet said.
On July 2, at the Lae Main Market, police were informed of a fight between market security personnel and a drunkard.
Collin was drunk and was harassing vendors and the public in the market.
The security personnel tried to remove Collin from the main market but he resisted, so, they used necessary force to remove him when the police arrived.
