PUKPUKS 7s rugby star Gairo Varo and newly selected member of the national training squad Madi Ora will lead their teams in the much anticipated Aroma Coast 7s tournament in February.
Varo, who will play alongside sibling Alova, is expected to boost Gaivakala’s chances of winning the Sir Puka Temu Cup.
The 32-year-old forward made his international debut last year at the Pacific Games in New Caledonia and has been part of the national squad since.
The biggest highlight in Varo’s rugby career was his selection in the PNG Pukpuks 7s team.
“It has given me confidence that I can represent my country even though I live in the village,” he said.
Meanwhile, the presence of halfback Madi Ora for Kapari is a major boost to the tournament.
The 26-year-old playmaker was outstanding at the recent PNG Games in Kokopo.
He has also taken part in the 2009 Coca-Cola PNG National 7s Championships.
It won’t surprise to see the dynamic Ora finally rise to fame.
