A foreigner and a female security officer have been arrested by police for allegedly accusing a teenager of stealing a cap inside a shop in Wewak.
Police station commander Inspector James Baugen said the boy who was around 14 was in the shop when the security guard and the shop operator beat him up.
They found later on the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) that he did not commit any offence.
“Parents of the boy lodged a complaint to police,” he said.
The man was released on a K1000 bail while the security officer was in police custody.
Both are expected to appear in the Wewak district court today.
