E-commerce future for SMEs: Sir Mahesh

Business

CITY Pharmacy Ltd managing director Sir Mahesh Patel said e-commerce and online shopping would be the future that small to medium enterprises (SMEs) benefit from.
Sir Mahesh said this during the launch of its online shop this week that delivery fees would vary according to distance.
“There are a lot of e-commerce platforms around, we will really turn the tables on e-commerce,” he said.
“It is not only about customer convenience but we are creating more SMEs and new enterprises in the delivery space, for younger Papua New Guineans to come in.
“Delivery fee varies.
“Again we are using a lot of new startup companies.
“We have got companies such as GoFood which is already doing deliveries.
“We have got the Odesh, a taxi booking application, taxi services and one or two new companies who are starting up.
“Now is the time.
“Delivery service in time will become a bigger fare and you do not have to have a fleet of cars but consistency, reliability as the business grows.
“We will need more people to do delivery but the fee will vary depending on where the locations are.
“We are trying to minimise that and we will have various schemes later where delivery can be free on a certain basis.
“But that will work once the programme is developed further.”
The City Pharmacy online shop can be found on the website: shop.cpl.com.pg and will have a variety of food, household items, health and beauty, baby and electronic items for sale.
