Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) vice-president Joseph Ealedona has taken office as president following the resignation of John Wesley Gonjuan.
Ealedona acknowledged Gonjuan’s resignation after Fifa banned the president for two years, eight months and fined him K170,000 for financial wrongdoing.
“Gonjuan has announced his resignation as the PMSA president and also the senior vice-president of the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA). PMSA respects his decision and how he will seek redress through the appropriate means available to him,” Ealedona said.
“PMSA acknowledges the contribution of Gonjuan.
“We wish him all the best in his redress and future endeavours.”
Ealedona said his executive committee would meet today to formalise the transition and advise the Oceania Football Confederation, PNGFA and Fifa accordingly and discuss a way forward for PMSA.
