Economy needs cooperation

OUR current Government of the day should give sufficient time during Parliament session to debate critical issues surrounding the gloomy fiscal pathway our country is facing.
One cannot pretend to say all is well.
The reports put out by International Monetary Fund on The National on Wednesday stating PNG having weak economic growth, debt-to-GDP ratio at risk of rising to over 40%, and PNG having a gloomy forecast are real.
Many ordinary citizens feel the pinch.
IMF recommends additional consolidation is needed to bring spending in line with a realistic assessment of revenues that can be raised in the next few years.
Begin to reverse the recent increases in the debt-to-GDP ratio.
In order to achieve this, both sides of the house should work together, meaning the Government should embrace some corrective measures proposed by opposition.
