Edai Town opens doors to Moresby

Edai Town Development Ltd director Kym Yong said the Edai Fair held over the long weekend was organised to bring residents, nearby villagers and people from Port Moresby together.
Yong said this was also a chance for the company to promote Edai Town products to potential home buyers.
People were allowed to inspect the different types of home designs at the estate.
Yong said since the first occupants moved in to the town in 2016, the demand for houses there have steadily increased.
She said this was at the back to the economic surge provided by the construction phase of the PNG LNG Project.
She said the plan was to build 307 units, adding that 161 units were currently occupied and the remaining units would be completed by the first quarter of 2019.
Yong said apart from building houses and an early learning centre, there were arrangements to have a police station, clinic and shops.
“As the residence grows, people should be able to live and stay here,” she said.
“The next part is for them to be able to work here so we have commercial and industrial allotments.
“We will bring in industries here and some residents can choose to work here instead of going to the city.
“Edai Town is a satellite township or suburb. It is an extension of Port Moresby”
“We already have a concept of a greater Port Moresby. Moresby just continues to grow and we are growing on the north-west side. This is a good place to grow.
“If there can be greater London then there can be greater Port Moresby with all the facilities.”
