EASTERN Highlands has extended its Coronavirus (Covid-19) curfew lockdown by another two weeks, from Nov 1 to 14.
Provincial administrator John Gimseve said the curfew would continue from 2pm to 7am daily, with restrictions to travel into town.
Gimseve, who is also the provincial controller, told The National: “Conditional exceptions are for drivers of vehicles on medical emergencies, those catching flights, those picking up inbound passengers from airport and small shop owners picking up supplies.
“Two check points will be in Kassam Pass and Mangiro. Both the police and health personnel will be stationed at these two borders to maintain and check for suspected Covid-19 cases.
“No passengers’ vehicles will travel through the Eastern Highlands to Lae or other provinces.”
He said no passenger vehicles will move in and out of town unless those with exemption pass from the police.
“There is also a liquor ban. Nightclubs and pokies bar are to remain shut,” he added.
Gimseve said that no haus krais will be allowed during the two week lockdown.
