THE Papua New Guinea Human Resource Institute has awarded eight public, private and government organisations in the country for their outstanding performances this year.
The awards were given based on compliance to regulations, best practices, performance and impact in the economic development of the country.
Awards were given as follow:

  • Top-performing statutory authority – National Fisheries Authority;
  • Top governance and compliance statutory authority – Civil Aviation and Safety Authority (Casa);
  • Top State-owned enterprise – Dataco;
  • Transformational State-Owned Enterprise in PNG – Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited (MVIL);
  • Top-performing government organisation – Internal Revenue Commission;
  • Top-performing government organisation – PNG Customs;
  • Top-performing private sector organisation – Tisa; and,
  • Most Progressive Private Sector Organization – Kina Bank.

President of PNGHRI Jerry Wemin said “these organisations have stood out among the rest this year” in their developments, compliance, performance, and impact in development.
“These organisations are the reason why PNG continues to grow its economy, attract investments and build infrastructure developments,” he said.
“They are the people who have sleepless nights in ensuring that the country keeps functioning.
“We sometimes forget the numerous regulations, guidelines and requirements they have to follow, while paying dividends and generating revenue for the government.”
He said by recognising such important organisations, it would inspire their staff to continue performing better year-in year-out.
Meanwhile, Teachers Savings and Loan Society chief executive officer Michael Koisen encouraged all the award recipients to continue performing well and help move the nation forward.
“The important thing is that we are serving our people,” Koisen said.
“With this heart and mind-set, it will create a culture of respect within your organisation, further translating down to achieving the expected outcomes for your organisation.”
