THE young people of Omsis, in Huon Gulf, have been urged to take on leadership roles in the community.
Chris Angus, an elder at the Markham One settlement in Morobe, urged them to take up church and community leadership roles. Angus was the former treasurer of the Uri group, the predecessor to the St Barnabas Lutheran congregation in Gabensis. The congregation consisted of settlers who were former labourers with a logging company in the area.
“They must take up leadership positions to guide future generations, especially children to make good choices for a better society.”
He was addressing an ecumenical Bible study camp at Omsis which was attended by more than 500 people.
The camp was attended also by 25 youths of St Yapiana congregation in Buang and eight from Zipa in Menyamya, and community members. “Young people must be united and stand as one. The camp was hosted to change young men and women,” Angus said.
