THE recent election-related violence in Port Moresby adversely affected some businesses in the capital city, according to the Rangeview Plaza management.
Facilities manager Correny Ure told The National that there was a drastic drop in customer numbers entering the mall on a daily basis since the incidents.
“Since the opening, we normally get 3,000 to 4,000 customers per day but since the general election began, the numbers have dropped to 1,000,” she said.
“(But) the numbers are slowly picking up (again).”
She blamed the election-related incidents for the low turnout of customers.
They are working on new promotional tactics to bring back customers.
She said customers should be reminded that the plaza was locally-owned.
Ure said the promotions team had merchandise displayed in the plaza which customers could receive if they showed receipts of what they bought.
She also confirmed that the management plans to put out Independence Day specials.
