THE United States government believes that women’s economic empowerment is instrumental for peace, prosperity and development, an official says.
US Ambassador to PNG, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu Erin McKee made the remarks at the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) trade fair in Port Moresby on Tuesday.
“If PNG women are empowered to fully participate in the economy, they will act as key drivers of family security,” she said.
“Women contribute to reducing poverty, grow and stabilise both local and the national economies, and unlock human potential on a transformational scale for future generations.
“So please continue to network, invest, partner, and mentor other female-owned start-up SMEs for your own and your nation’s economic prosperity and stability.
