EAST New Britain administration through the ENB Tourism Authority (ENBTA) has appointed 14 new directors of the ENB Tourism Board for the next three years.
ENB deputy administrator in charge of socio economic services Levi Mano announced the appointments on Wednesday in Kokopo.
Mano explained that the appointments made under the bylaws of the Tourism Act were also part of the reform programme of Government to partly privatise tourism activities in the country.
Mano said as part of the reform programme, tourism cultural activities had been established under the Tourism Board at the national level and as a consequence, the provincial administration decided to establish the ENB Tourism Board.
“These 14 new directors are the second lot of members to this board when this particular policy was executed sometime back,” Mano said.
“Thank you for accepting the decision by provincial executive council (PEC) to be part of this board, you were chosen because you have the capacity, you have a job, you have your own organisation to run and we feel in those capacities, you should be able to provide the connectivity the we certainly need to grow the tourism industry in the province and in the New Guinea Islands (NGI) region,” Mano told the directors.
Mano assured them that the provincial government and the administration would support them to make sure they made decisions in line with the Tourism Act.
The swearing in of the 14 new directors was facilitated by the legal officer of the provincial administration Nathan Yagon.
