THE East New Britain Workforce Association and its partners are holding a six-week crane operating training programme next month to develop crane operators’ skills.
It will encompass four competencies: working at heights, dogging, vehicle loading cranes and mobile slewing crane operation.
Crane operating trainer Allan Malko said the fees were affordable so trainees would take four competency levels at the price of one.
“The programme has produced skilled crane operators in East New Britain and throughout the country,” he said.
The programme is made possible through a collaborative effort between East New Britain Workforce Association Incorporated, Kompak Solutions and the Melanesia Training Institute.
Malko said that the programme’s approach ensured that participants were well-prepared for the demands of the crane operation industry, where safety and precision were important.
Participation fees are K5,500, which includes a training offer option where participants could undergo first three competency levels at a cost of K3,500 and then return to complete the final level for a fee of K2, 000.
