EAST New Britain Governor Nakikus Konga says his province’s 2018 Budget is structured to support direct resource allocations to districts, local level governments and frontline government agencies for service delivery.
He said this in Port Moresby yesterday when presenting the province’s 2018 Budget of K233 million to national Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister Charles Abel.
Konga was accompanied by Gazelle MP and Police Minister Jelta Wong, Kokopo MP and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Emil Tammur and a team from his government.
Konga said the 2018 Budget focused on “nurturing sustainable economic growth and development through infrastructure and SME development”.
“The 2018 Budget is structured to support direct resource allocation to districts and local level governments (LLGs), and the frontline agencies, as institutions to drive service delivery,” he said.
“A sum of more than K22.82 million is allocated to the LLGs.
“This is consistent with the respective district and LLG five-year development plans and complements the national service delivery framework targeted at improving the quality of life of our people.”
Konga said the current provincial manpower structure of 25 per cent at provincial headquarters and 75 per cent in districts and LLGs would drive effective Budget implementation and outcomes.
