EAST New Britain Plantation (ENBP) Group, which manages the biggest oil palm business in the province, plans to develop a K15 million housing scheme for its staff and project landowners.

This was revealed by the group’s chief executive officer Eng Kwee Tan, following a ground breaking event last Wednesday at the new property development site at Takubar, Kokopo.

Tan said they would start with a warehouse, accommodation and kitchen and canteen facilities. Infrastructure such as office, landowners’ transit house, recreation centre, training centre and a managers’ accommodation would be the next phase.

ENBP Group manages the biggest oil palm business in ENB with two established oil palm plantations in the province.

In October last year, the group commissioned its first palm oil processing mill at its Tzen plantation in rural Wide Bay, Pomio district.

“The company will continue to invest and explore other opportunities in addition to our core business,” Tan said.

“We have faith that the Government will continue to create a conducive environment for us to continue doing business, grow and be part of the local communities.

“With the establishment of the group’s own corporate office, it would enhance our presence in the place where we operate and our continued commitment in seeing our long-term strategy eventuate.”
