LOCAL engineering services company Kramer Ausenco, who are behind some of the country’s major projects, celebrated its 45th anniversary in Port Moresby.
It was founded in Port Moresby in 1978 by one of countries longest serving engineers Frank Kramer, now its chief executive officer.
Kramer said the firm’s expertise in civil engineering, surveying, structural engineering, building services, project management and construction management, helped it successfully bid for large projects in PNG.
It was responsible for the engineering work for the Revenue Haus, Morauta Haus, Vulupindi Haus, Windward Apartments (stage one 20 years ago and stage Two completed in 2014), Deloitte Tower, Grand Papua Hotel and Waterfront Foodworld.
Highways, bridges, wharves and airports are also among the company’s projects portfolios.
“All major resources companies in PNG are or were clients of Kramer Ausenco,” Kramer said.
“The company was significantly involved in the development of the Lihir gold project, and also a member of the team that built the Hides gas project PDL1 the first hydro-carbon project in PNG.”
Of the company employees, 80 per cent are Papua New Guineans administration workers, surveyors, draftsmen and women, builders and engineers.
“It has been quite a journey, a challenging but one that inspired us to expand and grow with the country,” Kramer said.
“When we started, I was a young man, too scared of what was ahead, but it was something I was passionate about, I saw the opportunity of how this firm can grow.”
