Engineering students host design project show

WITH the world adapting to changes in technology, people have to get smart to come up with innovative ideas to adapt to the changes.
Using such a theme, students from the University of Technology engineering department in Lae, hosted a design project show on Friday to showcase and pitch their project ideas created through engineering designs using waste products.
A total of 52 teams from the four engineering departments – electrical, mining, civil and mechanical – participated in showcasing their projects at the civil engineering building.
The projects on display were prototype of everyday household items such as chairs, tables and sinks.
The civil engineering head of department Dr Mirzi Betasolo said the project had been implemented due to a revised programme.
“This is the second year of the new programme under accreditation and comes under the new name ‘bachelor in civil engineering honours’,” she said.
