POLICE have re-arrested an Englishman charged with possession of methamphetamine and its implements after a committal court struck out his case on Monday.
National directorate and Vice Squad (NDVS) officer-in-charge Sgt Thomas Moiyang said Wayne David Rooke, 38, from West Midlands, England was re-arrested by police and was in custody.
“After the case was struck out, I gave directions to NDVS to re-arrest and detain Rooke as his police files were ready,” he said.
“The case was struck out due to administration and transportation issues, but since his files were ready, police had to re-arrest him.”
Sgt Moiyang said Rooke would be brought back to court next week for arraignment as his files were completed, served and evidence was ready to be tendered in court.
Police alleged that on Sept 14 between 11am and noon, Rooke was at a house in East Boroko, National Capital District.
It was alleged that police had received information that Rooke was there after several calls made for him to report to a nearest police station but he did not comply.
Police went to the location and arrested him.
He was then taken into his bedroom to witness a search by police.
On entering his bedroom, police allegedly found two grams of methamphetamine and its implements.
He was charged at the Boroko holding cells.
