CHILDREN at the Boera Primary School, in Central, are celebrating the opening of a new K100,500 double block classroom funded by Japan.
Japanese Ambassador to PNG Hiroharu Iwasaki was at Boera last Friday to officiate at the opening of the classroom built through its grant assistance for grassroots muman security projects, costing US$51,000 (K113,000)
Iwasaki said the new classroom building should be fully utilised so it could benefit children in future.
He hoped that the project would strengthen the friendship and partnership that Japan has maintained with Papua New Guinea.
Japan, as one of the donors of development assistance to PNG, launched the grants assistance project in 1989 to reduce poverty and help communities engaged in grassroots activities.
