The country’s preparedness for the Expo 2020 in Dubai is on track, Ambassador Joshua Kalinoe says.
The six-month expo will start in October.
“Our story will be anchored as the friendly and the sustainable use of our natural resources. We are a country of opportunities, and mysteries, in diversity,” Kalinoe told guests at the launch of the PNG World Expo 2020 website and logo in Port Moresby yesterday.
“This is not about the traditional trade and investment, yes, that is part of it.
“This is about our country, about who we are, what we are capable of doing in all aspects of our lives or our community.
“The website is the important part of the story.
“We will also tell the rest of the world how PNG is contributing to the healthy lives of the world.
“The REDD+ initiative that we have come up with, the different conservation sites that we have preserved.
“We will tell the world to join us in putting money into preserving these conservation sites, so the world will come.”
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Soroi Eoe said the website was the key platform which would be
used to direct traffic to the PNG pavilion in Dubai as well as to the product and resource owners in the country.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Timothy Masiu said Covid-19 pandemic had forced people to utilise digital technologies.
