EVERY Papua New Guinean will be accounted for in the 2020 National census programme which will be linked into the National Identity (NID) and Civil Registry, Prime Minister James Marape says.
Marape in his Christmas message said the government would account for and plan better for its citizens.
“If you are a student and youth, study hard whilst respecting the lawful instructions and law and order in our country,” he said.
“Students who come out of grade 8, 10 or 12, with no offer or no spaces to continue education, don’t lose hope.
“Go to your district education advisor and the public service in the district or in the provinces, we have you covered.
“Our programme to help students continue on in education will cover you in 2020 and beyond.
“You will be brought back to consider education in our open and flexible education, technical vocational education training programmes as well as the Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) interventions.
“Those students who are coming out of the school systems, go and get yourselves enrolled as a Papua New Guinean through our NID programme.”
Marape said he is committed for the country and urged the students to take the opportunity.
“The call has been made to you, get yourselves into a district and provincial headquarters.
“We will put up key points of locations right across the country during the Christmas festive period so that students can make contact with us and we can know who you are,” he said.
“We will reach out to you and help you continue your education or empower you through the SME programme.”
