FORMER Enga Mioks forward Ezekiel Yaru has joined the Gulf Isou for the 2024 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup season.
The inclusion of Yaru into the PRK-sponsored side would help strengthen the middle ruck area as the side continues to expose its talent from the development squad.
“I am happy and excited to be in the Isou camp for this year,” Yaru told The National. “They are a young side. Most boys in camp have been promoted from the development squad into the team and I am happy to play alongside them this season.
“I will share my experiences playing in the competition with these young boys. It’s great to be giving back to the young players.
“You love to do it when you see their interest it’s growing and for these boys, they are hungry to learn and that’s what we are here for.
“With my experience I am happy to work with them. Ninety per cent of the team is made up of young guns, preseason they have really put in the effort, time management, they are hungry to play and they need our support and assistance, they got the energy to be up there, learning new things.
Yaru clarified the reason he left the Engan side.
“The reason why I left the Mioks, it’s not that I don’t want the team, I have my family here so that’s why and I had to travel down to stay close to them and play.”
Meanwhile, head coach Roger Laka confirmed the availability of the prop in the club for this year’s campaign.
“He is a great role model to the boys and his presence in the team is definitely a boost,” said the Isou coach.
