FORMER Sumkar MP Ken Fairweather wants the Government to inquire into the funds acquired for the Pacific Maritime Industrial Zone (PMIZ) in Madang.
He said the project took more than 10 years to eventuate and the Government needed to tell the people where the money went.
“PMIZ is a con job,” Fairweather told The National.
“This is probably the greatest fraud ever committed.
“Half of the K90 million borrowed from China Exim Bank has been repaid already but there is nothing to show for it.
“Where is the money?”
“Why don’t the authorities inquire into the PMIZ fraud?”
Fairweather said he had been demanding action when he was in Parliament but nothing was done.
“All they (Government) said was that the project would start but that has not been happening since 2004,” he said. He wants Justice Minister and Madang MP Bryan Kramer to look into the matter.
“As Madang MP, former police minister, current justice minister and a dedicated corruption fighter that I admire, he should look into this,” Fairweather said.
Kramer said he would be responding to questions from The National regarding PMIZ and Fairweather’s concerns at a later time.

  • He was the one who funded NGO and radical landowners to oppose the project from day one.

  • Yes. I thought the money was missed used and the government is turning blind eye on it
