A DISCUSSION on education, science and green economy organised by PNG Expo 2020 team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) last week, attracted interests from people in other countries.
Commissioner-general Joshua Kalinoe, also the PNG ambassador to Belgium and European Union, said the discussion attracted policy makers, academics and scientists, plus environmentalists, private equity investors, bankers and academics from Europe, North America and the UAE.
UAE chamber of commerce and industry general-secretary Himaid Ben Salem said investing in green economy meant the world could live in balance with nature.
“The reduction of green gas emission through conservation and mitigation measures would create more carbon sink that would allow the people to live with healthy lungs,” Salem said.
“PNG has the third largest rainforest that contributes to healthy lungs. An international partnership is required to assist the country in its efforts to preserve the rainforest.”
